Job Description:

Job Summary

Develop and manage research databases and derived research-specific datasets based on data from the STS National Database in support of various STS Research Center programs and functions. Provide expertise in programming, queries and analytics, and data quality assurance.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the STS Research Center Director to build research databases and generate analytic datasets in support of various research programs.
  • Perform research database queries, aggregations, and tabulations.
  • Develop standardized reports and database query templates to increase efficiency and accuracy of work product.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Support the STS Participant User File (PUF) research program. Manage all data related tasks, including initial PUF creation based on study inclusion and exclusion criteria, quality checks, and PUF updates as necessary.
  • Assist the STS Research Center Director and other staff in the preparation of study specific datasets for analysis.
  • Work with investigators and other parties (e.g., Industry) to define specific study objectives and data requirements.
  • Conduct analyses and prepare corresponding reports and tabulations using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Experience and Skills:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience in database programming, data analysis, and report writing is required. Familiarity with healthcare, clinical databases/registries, and medical association environment is strongly preferred.

 

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Strong SQL and database skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with statistical software (e.g.,SAS, STATA, R, SPSS)
  • Proficiency with graphics programs (e.g.,SigmaPlot)
  • Ability to participate in evening conference calls
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through capabilities; attention to detail is essential
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteer leaders, and other organizations; tact, diplomacy, and good judgment are essential
