Job Description:

Job Summary

Perform statistical programming and analysis on datasets derived from the component registries of the STS National Database. Develop and manage the clinical sub-specialty research datasets. Provide expertise in statistical programming and analytics, advanced database querying, and quality assurance of pre-analysis datasets and post-analysis results reports.

P rimary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the STS Research Center Director to ensure that analytic requirements of STS investigators’ and other parties’ (e.g., Industry) projects are accurately met and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Work with the STS Research Center Director to develop statistical analysis plans (SAPs), including conferring with investigators to finalize SAPs.
  • Conduct analyses and prepare reports with tabulations and graphical representations using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex methods.
  • Utilize the multiple clinical specialty research databases to derive the analytical datasets needed for STS Research Center activities and programs.
  • Develop standardized database querying and analysis reporting templates to increase efficiency and accuracy of work product.
  • Develop and implement data quality checks to confirm accuracy and completeness of research analytic datasets (pre-analysis).
  • Generate quality checks on reports to confirm accuracy and completeness of aggregated results, including cohort comparisons (post-analysis).
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of STS registries, data field and data specifications across multiple longitudinal database versions.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, data science or other related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 4 years of related work experience in statistical programming, data management, data analysis, and report writing is required. Candidates with Master’s degree and 2 years of experience may also be considered. Familiarity with healthcare, clinical databases/registries, and medical association environment is preferred.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience in, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R)
  • Proficiency in SQL database skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with graphical representation of data is desirable
  • Ability to participate in evening conference calls, as necessary
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through capabilities; attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteer leaders, and other organizations; tact, diplomacy, and good judgment
  • Ability to expand technical skills and familiarity with data resources to meet STS work requirements
  • Positive attitude in the workplace
